In January, we have some great new projects added to our  calendar.

The Grape Basket

The traditional Grape Basket block represents the "plenty" that we have in our lives.

First up is “Grape Basket topper” on Saturday, January 7th from 10-2 for only $12. Karen will teach the quick and accurate way to make the half-square triangles used in this quilt (no paper).  The finished size is 32 inches.  You can make this little quilt from your fabric collection of fat quarters – you just need 4 lights, 4 violets, one brown and some yardage for the sashing…or we can kit this up for you.

Mock Log Cabin Quilt

On January 12th, in the ongoing Thursday morning class with Karen, we will start on the Mock Log Cabin Quilt.  This quilt looks great in many color combos…I got mine done just in time for Christmas!  The blocks finish at 6 1/2 inches and can be arranged in any of the traditional Log Cabin layouts.  You will need a total of 3 yards of the two main colors and 1 yard for center square.  Come by the shop and check out the full-size quilt.

On Friday, January 20th from 10am to 1pm for only $12 a week, Loisann is starting a Beginning Applique class.  The project is a beautiful floral medallion quilt designed by Jo Morton.  She will have you start off with the simple floral blocks and work your way up to the center-piece.

When you sign-up, let her know if you need the basic start-up kit.

On Friday, January 27th from 10am to 2pm for only $12, Karen is teaching a Valentine Topper      she designed.  This is a sweet little table topper of hearts surrounded by a ribbon border.  Start collecting your red, pink and white scraps or we can kit this up for you.

On Saturday, January 28th from 10am to 2pm for only $15, Rebeka is teaching “Grand Country Checkers” quilt that she has designed just for yours truly!  This is a beautiful quilt..the photo does not do it justice -  you really need to see it in person to truly appreciate it.

Wow!  Where did November go?  Are you ready to put away your turkey fryer and put up your Christmas tree?

We are ready to help make your holiday gift giving a little easier.  We are now stocking some great gift items – one of a kind dolls, santas and snowmen, hand-made jewelry, miniature gingerbread villages in their own snow globe, some of the best smelling candles ever made,  and many unique holiday decorations… you’ve just got to check them out.

We have added some new classes to our December schedule.  Two of the classes are this week!

Snap Bags – these make great gifts….just add an iPod and you can’t go wrong.  The class is this Friday, December 2nd, from 10 to 2 and just $12.  We will provide the “innards”  you will need to make one – you just need a few fat quarters or stray quilt blocks looking to be re-purposed and a sewing machine that knows how to zig-zag.

Star Burst topper – this make-it/take-it goes together so fast and fun.  We use wool for the applique to make it even easier!  This class is this Saturday, December 3rd, 10 to 3 and only $15.  We can kit this up for you – just let us know.

We also have a darling “Pretty Ditty Apron” class that is scheduled for Friday, December 9th at 10 to 2 for only $10.

We have the every popular “Soup and Sew” on Saturday, December 10th from 4 to 8.  Were else can you have so much fun and be feed for only $5.

So…now that the dust has settled, we will be able to stay on top to the blog and keep it sorta current – at least that is the plan.  We’ll try to post photos of all the good stuff that arrives.

Living our dreams…..Grand Country Quilters
